Potty Progress

We just completed DAY 4 of potty training and I'm finally feeling we've made HUGE progress.

I know this because, Everett:
  • wore underwear  as soon as he woke up this morning (7:30 a.m) until bedtime (8:30 p.m.) and did not soil his underpants, even once.
  • woke up from a 2 hour nap with a DRY diaper.
  • told us when he needed to go "wee wee" and his underpants were dry vs. wet.
  • did not pee or poop on the carpet.
None of the above applied yesterday. Yesterday {in private} i cried and swore and kicked and cried and cried some more.   I finally concluded and accepted the possibility our Everett might be wearing diapers until he is able to potty train himself.  Don't laugh. No lie.

I recognize we're not in the clear, but I'm relieved to know we will experience days of progress, as well. Hooray for Everett, we are so proud!

We took this super cute picture today.  Too bad it was taken with the iphone.

Project 365 - Day 7

Potty Training In Progress.

First Brawl

Poor baby had his first brawl today...with our t.v. tray.  :o( He received two nasty bruises (one on his forehead and one on his cheek).

I'm happy to report Emory is fine and back to his happy, giggly self.

Falling Into Place

Take 2.  We've started potty training. again.
We felt it was definitely time as Everett started telling us every time he soiled his diaper.
This time there are no bells, whistles, stickers or material incentives... just lots of love and encouragement. Everett's doing great.  I on the other hand am doing lots of laundry and spot treating the carpet.
We are only Potty Training during the day – not at night or naps. I feel like it’s unfair to ask him to be in control of what he is doing when he’s not actually conscious! He wears his diapers for naps and bedtime but as soon as he is up- they come off.
Even though potty training can be frustrating, I think it's all falling into place and I'm hopeful we will have a potty trained little boy soon!!

Project 365

I found this "Project 365" bandwagon and decided to jump right on.  What is Project 365? It's an exercise in self-discipline. For one year (365 days), the mission is to take a photo every day and post it online or on your blog. I realize I'm five days behind and will try posting our first five days this week.
Day 6 - Playmates
It seems since the turning of the new year our boys have become great playmates.
Here Everett & Emory take a break from playing and a snack, to greet me at the playroom babygate.

OH WOOK!

"OH WOOK!" = Everett's favorite saying these days.   If you lived with us, you just might hear "OH WOOK!" 20+ times/day. :o)

Oh wook, a choo choo train!
Oh wook, a Emmy (Emory)!
Oh wook, a drink!
Oh wook, a toy!
Oh wook, a cookie!
Oh wook, a Mommy!
Oh wook, a Christmas Tree!
Oh wook, a 'nana! (banana)
Oh wook, a truck!
Oh wook, a Mama!
Oh wook, a choo choo track!
Oh wook, a Elmo!
Oh wook, a cow!
....you get the idea.

In addition to this silly little saying, we are so pleased how much Everett's vocabulary and expressive language has increased in the past few months.
My attempts to record an "OH WOOK!" moment has been impossible, but have plans to set up the video camera to possibly capture a conversation or two, soon.
