Emory's first doctor's appointment and outing

We took Emory to his very first doctor's appointment on Friday. We were excited to share our new son with Doc as she did not meet him in the hospital when we delivered.

Mommy and the nurse place Emory on the scale.

Emory's weight was 8 pounds, 3.5 ounces. A weight loss from birth is typical; this week Emory lost 1 ounce.

Emory's head and length were measured. His length was 21", he grew 3/4 of a inch in 6 days!
Doc examined Emory from head to toes; she said he was "perfect".

He received a Hepatitus B vaccination. Poor baby.

Since all appeared great, Doc requested his next appointment at 2 months old. This appointment in June will also serve as Everett's 2 year exam. *sniff* I can't believe our baby boy is going to be 2 years old next month.
After returning from our doctor's appointment, we loaded up the car (a first time, as a family of 4) and headed to Grampy's (with Ori) for lunch.
Thank you Ori for watching Everett so that we could both be at the doctor's appointment with Emory. He had a blast collecting rocks and playing chase through the laundry room.

A clean baby Emory

and a happy Everett. :)

A visit from Grandma & Grandpa!

Grandma & Grandpa drove 10 hours (round trip) to meet Emory on Tuesday. Though they were only here for a few hours, they were able to get in some snuggle time with the boys and a shopping trip to Target...a definite bonus for Everett. :) Ev absolutely LOVES his Thomas the Tank Engine goodies. :)

Though this visit was short, we're very much looking forward to our visit in May for the co-birthday celebration for Everett and my mom (Grandma) the weekend of May 22-23.

A Photo Journal of Emory's Birth Day

Birthstory to come at a later time (via Deona). In the meantime, I hope you enjoy some of the photos taken from the day. A HUGE thank you to Aunt Tammy for taking pictures, we're so glad you were part of our adventure. :o)

We arrived at the hospital at 7:00 am. Aunt Tammy arrives at 8:15 am to start taking pictures of our big day.

Monica records everyone's predictions for Emory's arrival time, weight and length.

MY prediction was that Emory would arrive at 1:26 p.m. and 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

Doc broke Deona's water at 7:55 am. Pitocin started at 8:10 am

First long contraction started at 8:11 am
The anesthesiologist administered the epidural at 10:02 am
10:19 am, Deona was dialated between a 5.5-6
12:04 am, no changes in dialation, 0 station, thinned cervix
1:05 pm dialated to 10! Monica starts texting family and friends *PANIC!!*
Nurses and Doc scramble to get everything ready.

Deona pushed for 7 minutes and Emory was here at 1:26 pm.
Emory arrived at 1:26 pm!!! Did you hear that? MY PREDICTION WAS TO THE MINUTE!!!!

Emory weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and 20.25" long...I was off by only 1 ounce! Amazing!!
Emory looks HUGE in this photo.
