Growing feet

Ev and Em got new shoes today (THANKS GRANMOM!); evidently their toes have been squished for a while. Everett is wearing size 3 boys and Emory is in a size 1!  Growing boys feet!

Filthy Fun at Granpop and Granmom's House

Big Wheel races down the driveway, racing toy boats down the muddy babbling brook , collecting worms, roly-polies, snails and frogs means having to get neked before going inside Granmom's house.  :)

A Blessed First Grade Year

We've been looking forward to this day for a while and it's finally here. How awesome to think for the next three months there are no pressures to be in bed by 8:30 p.m., no alarm clocks or wake up calls, breakfast doesn't have to be at 7:00 am (sharp), I no longer feel guilt for preparing balanced, warm breakfasts, lunches will happen on plates so I no longer need to fill lunchboxes and most exciting...... I can stay in my 'jammies all day, if I want to! :)

All those wonderful benefits of summer break yet the sadness on the last day of school is real.  The last day of school not only represents progression, but it is a reminder you will never get your child back at this particular age, and it can make this mommy a little weepy.  Even so, I am relieved Everett had great year; I am hopeful next school year he reconnects with old friends, makes new friends and second grade will be with just as memorable.

A few of Everett's Viridian Village: 

We love Mrs. A". (left 2 pics)  Mrs. A took great care to make sure Everett was put safely in his car, each day.  Mrs. A is proof that it only takes a few minutes in a day,  to make an impression and impact on someone.  She certainly did with us!  Everett is hoping she will be his 3rd grade teacher in a couple of years. 

"Ms. W" (top pic) was Everett's art teacher this year.   Everett frequently talked about how much he liked art and appreciates all the awesome art projects Ms. W had for them to do.  Everett  was very proud hearing she felt he was a great artist. 

"Ms. E" (bottom middle) is the school librarian.  Everett loved going to the library, especially when Ms. E read stories aloud.

"Miss T", was Everett's school blessing this year.   To know Miss T, you will quickly learn she has a passion for children and the learning process. I especially appreciated her silly, human side, all while modeling for the students that they could  have fun while getting work done.  I know she will remain vivid in Everett's memories because of her creativity, sense of fun, and compassion.

My Cookies on the Farm

My friend, Dorothy planned and executed a beautiful event for her son's 2nd birthday party. Every detail was perfect; from the farm animal petting zoo, chicken feed (Chex Mix) snack , tractor fuel (lemonade) to the gorgeous fondant farm cake. It was an honor to have my cookies be a part of Dorothy's vision.

Everett loves food. He's always been a great eater.  He'll try anything and usually ends up liking it.  Tonight's meal is one of his favorite dinners: cheese pizza, spinach, fruit and cucumbers.
