Everett goes to the dentist

Everett had his very first dental appointment very EARLY this morning. I was relieved the staff was so wonderful and understanding as Ev was high energy and not very happy about sitting in my lap while doc examined his teeth. During the examine, doc was able to determine Ev has 16 teeth and predicts he will have 4 more by Christmas. No cavities, (HOORAY!), but did comment Everett has a small pallet which translates into braces in the future. :o( Interestingly enough, I recently made the same observation.

A couple of questions Doc was able to clear up for me:
1) sippy cups - does not feel sippy cups are a concern for teeth, provided he doesnt keep one in his mouth around the clock.
2) juices - feels kids eat and drink sweets, but most importantly NEVER let them go to bed without brushing their teeth and brush them in their sleep in necessary.

Everett LOVED the staff. Of course he did....they showered him with stickers, including a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" sticker, cool toothbrush, a toy car and most importantly, he was super excited to have an audience whom laughed and played with him. Everett was truly upset we had to leave. Our next appointment is in 6 months.

Note to self for our next dental visit:

Dear Self,
Don't forget to clean and clear Ev's nasal passages (boogers) before our next dental exam.
