Our impromptu day on Amtrak and visit to Cleburne State Park

It's a rare weekend when our family doesn't have anything on the calendar; especially on a weekend.  Grammy had a fabulous idea of taking a one way trip to Cleburne via Amtrak (only a 40 minute train ride) and she would meet us at the train station.
You can probably guess how excited this little guy was about our day.

Despite the fact we nearly missed getting off at our stop, we made it to Cleburne!

after some time playing around the caboose
and skipping from railroad tie to railroad tie
we headed off to Cleburne State Park.
What I especially loved about today was is there were no plans yet plenty of time to just hang out and smell the flowers
and of course loved that we were able to be out in nature
collecting shells and sticks AND grasshoppers!

Everett was SUPER excited about catching his very first grasshopper.
disclaimer: no animals or insects were harmed during the filming. :)

A super, perfect {impromptu} day with Amtrack, Cleburne State Park and my beautiful family.

OH forgot to mention....exciting news.....I am an Amtrak fan on Facebook.  I decided to share  picture #4 on their wall and was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from Amtrak's marketing/social media director.  I signed permission for them to use this photo in promotions, etc and as a thank you the boys received these via FedEx yesterday.   VERY cool and the boys were super excited about their new luggage complete with LED light up wheels!   Thanks Amtrak! :)

Learning and Having Fun

Emory loves puzzles and even though it might take him a half an  hour to complete one  (24 or 32 pieces) he's dedicated AND determined.  :)

As you know Everett started school last week and was his 1st week homework assignment was this:

Now Everett's been writing him name for a awhile now but to see him work his whole name; including his last name in just a couple of days blows me away. Last night Ev requested that we add his middle name in Lego letters. His request was granted and he now knows how to arrange his full name in Legos.

It's so much fun watching Everett & Emory learn but it's a bonus when they are having fun!
