Halloween on the Island

Darth Vader and the Jedi Knight (aka Luke Skywalker).
They may look cool but don't be fooled, costumes were mostly put together with items already in their dress up/costume box. I'm 100% positive Emory will strangle me when he finds out the cool vest/jacket he wore Halloween 2015 was a pair of  Mommy's fat trousers. :-P This fabric went a long way; being fat does have it's advantages.

Before a big night trick-or-treating we (the four of us plus Grammy) headed to Fisherman's Wharf  for an early dinner.

Afterwards, we trick-or-treated the Strand...

then we went trick-or-treating at a nearby neighborhood.
This is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Galveston.

The houses are spectacular; so much history and charm.
Hello stairs.
We waited at the sidewalk this year.

Apparently Deona felt the kitty cat, dressed in a pumpkin costume behind the screen door, was worth the stair climb. :)
A very different, yet awesome, Halloween on Galveston Island.

Sometimes you stumble upon something sad and unexpected and on this particular day, Mama and Everett stumbled across a shark head on the shoreline.   Although there was nothing we could do to bring the shark back, it was a great learning opportunity for the boys to see and touch a shark up close.   I feel bad for this shark, but WOW, what a great learning day for the boys.

The boys have adjusted to their new school beautifully, his moms have not and that will be another blog post later down the road. Maybe 2 or 3 posts.  Be sure to check back, you may find post like  "Why We Hate the Public School System" , "If You're Expecting High Performance From Your Students, Be The Example!",  "My Kid Might Not Be the Highest State Test Score But He Could Teach You A Few Things About Social Skills, Good Choices and Being Kind" or "We're Homeschooling".  *sigh* I digress.*sigh again*

This is really what this blog post is all about....

Today Everett and Emory  brought home awards, including the distinguished "Parker Pelican Award".  The Parker Pelican Award is given only to one student, per class, for each six weeks and their photo will be displayed on the school's "Hall of Honor"
