We spent New Year's Eve at Granmom & Granpop's house.
Everett & Emory gave Granmom a Thirty-One apron for Christmas this year. Granmom looks fabulous and the apron came in handy for our traditional New Year bunuelos....
Living outside the city limits has its advantanges. Fireworks!
Cousin Jordan, Ev & Em waiting patiently.
Ev & Jordan had a blast with flashlights, jumping off the porch, twirling Sparklers and just being boys.
We brought in the New year with confetti
kisses,
hugs,
and a little sparking cider.
Shortly after midnight we all grabbed a slice of "Rosca de Reyes" in hopes of getting the slice with the baby Jesus figurine in it. Whoever finds the baby Jesus is blessed and must take the figurine to the nearest church on February 2, Candlemas Day (Día de la Candelaria). In the Mexican culture, this person also has to throw a party and provide tamales and atole to the guests. Weight Watcher tamales and atole - our house - Feb. 2nd. :-D
Wishing You & Yours a Happy New Year!
