Everett was accepted into the Spanish Immersion program in our neighboring school district for his first grade year. Students in the Spanish Immersion program have a unique opportunity to gain an international edge at an early
age. They do not just study a second language; they live it,
experience it, and use it, so it becomes part of them.
We were hopeful Everett would enjoy his new school, teacher and the Spanish immersion program...
unfortunately he did not; so I followed up with his teacher and pulled him out of the program
at the end of the day. Here's why:
What my letter did not say was that Everett begged me to please put him in a regular class.Thankfully, we were already in the process of moving into the school's boundary, so Everett was allowed to transfer out of Spanish Immersion into a regular 1st grade class. After being out for three days with a virus, Everett returned back to school, to a "regular" first grade class and has the most WONDERFUL teacher this year!
BTW, Emory is 4 and will be homeschooling this school year. Emory says his teacher's name is "Mrs. Mommy". :) He begins the school year knowing all his shapes, letters-capital and lower case (thanks big brother), all 26 letter sounds, reading/spelling 3 letter words, and he knows single digit addition.
