Weekend trip to Oklahoma

We made a trip to see Deona's grandmother in Oklahoma this weekend, a first for little Everett. We had a great time.

We packed up the car and headed to Oklahoma Friday morning. We had hoped to get on the road by 9:00 a.m., with baby in tow, our plan was delayed about an hour and a half. Our car was loaded down with one overnight bag for Deona and myself and the rest of the car was consumed with Everett's necessities.

Enroute, Grampy instructed us to drive 70 mph and he would reduce his speed to 60 mph; shortly after catching up, Jordan had an accident which would require a change of clothes at the nearest gas station. :) I made a mental note that Fritos, apple juice and watching videos don't compliment each other very well in a moving vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, we were on the road again taking the scenic route via Turner Falls State Park.

We pulled off for some leg stretching, pictures, diaper changes and a bathroom break.

Before heading out to grandma's, Deona, Everett and I checked into our hotel at the "Sleep Inn & Suites" in Guthrie. Deona decided we needed a suite, as she wanted Everett's very first hotel stay to be special; indeed it was. Our oversized room had a flat screen TV, rocking chair recliner, fluffy featherbed, jacuzzi tub (not that we were in the room long enough to enjoy it), mini fridge, microwave, and wetbar - WHICH came in handy for washing baby bottles and nipples.

After a trip to a grocery store in Guthrie, we headed out to grandma's in Perkins (about 20 minutes away). When we arrived, Grammie, Grampy, Dondi, Roy, Jordan and Matthew were there. We had a nice time visiting with all, but it was especially nice for Everett to spend some one on one time with GG (great grandma)later that evening.

Lots and lots of pictures were taken.

Saturday was a fun day. Before heading back to Grandma's, we checked out of the hotel and decided to take a little drive through the Historic town of Guthrie.
This weekend I learned that Guthrie was the first Capitol of Oklahoma. Such a cute town..the architecture, antique brick walkways, museums....we'll definately need to go back and make a day of it.

Uncles Charlie and Tony grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. The food was good, and a lot of fun was had by all. It was great seeing everyone and letting them all meet little E for the first time. Grandma says she now has 31 great grandchildren; Everett being #30. :)

We left Perkins about 4:30 in the afternoon, it was a pretty uneventful trip home. Lunch in Ardmore at the local IHOP, and one additional stop for refueling.

Everett did amazing this weekend. He's been a perfect baby and have had so much fun sharing our family, friends and experiences with him. We're looking forward to more special moments, traditions and and creating many memories with him.
