Emory lost his belly button cord stump during the night. Hooray!! Now he has a cutie pie little belly button. Next stop - taking an actual bath in his duck bathtub. Stay tuned!
I find it interesting you (americans) dont bath them until the cord stump falls off..... why is that?
My boys had a full bath at the hospital, at a few days old. cord and all. the midwives said it was fine. Never had a problem with it, it just dried up and fell off as normal.
Interesting Sal, I thought that was a usual practice. :) They (docs & nurses) tell us cord stumps will fall off earlier/faster if they stay completely dry. So only wash cloth baths are permitted until it falls off. Emory's fell off quite fast; Everett's was 5 weeks, i believe.
