8 months old!

Dearest Everett,
This month has really flown! Here are some of the ways you have grown this month.

Talking/Jabbering
You’ve been very vocal and are combining syllables. You’ve mastered the word, “daddy”; in fact you use the word “daddy” in place of “mommy or “mama”, this makes us laugh and smile. You’ve been making funny little sounds with your mouth. You blow air in / out of your mouth, and sometimes whistle. Recently, you started making clicking noises while you crawl.

Hand and Arm Gestures
You know how to clap your hands. Though you haven’t said “bye bye”, you understand that when these two words are said, you’re to open and close your fingers, while waving your tiny hand. You waved a few times; however you keep your hand and fingers turned downward, towards the floor. You hold up your arms when you are ready to be picked up.

Crawling / Climbing / Walking
You are a super crawler; and have mastered climbing up on furniture and people. You’ve become quite comfortable standing using only one hand and you’re using tables, chairs and our hands to help you walk alongside furniture, etc. You’re getting really good at balancing. You’ve stood on your own, a few times, lasting 2-5 seconds at a time.
Oh, I forgot to add…
You really despise the barriers that we have in place for you. You become so frustrated that you’re not allowed to venture all over the house. Baby boy, you are fearless and it’s only because we love you and want to protect you.

Sleep
Once again, we had to lower your crib mattress because you’re now standing and bouncing in your crib. Your crib is now set to the lowest setting; however you’re now trying to raise your leg over the crib rail. Since returning from our Disney vacation, you haven’t slept through the night; in fact you wake up at 2:30 a.m. and again at 5:30 a.m. Mommy decided to move a twin bed into your room, so we don’t disturb Mama during the night. This new plan seems to be working very well.
Naps
Naps are no longer in your crib, as they were only lasting 15 minutes at a time, twice a day. Poor Mommy. Since moving your naps to your infant carrier, you’re now napping three times a day for 1-2 hours each nap. Hooray!

Playtime
You love removing your toy bins from their shelves and emptying them on the floor. You especially like to chew your soft books and soft cars. You also think banging your toys against each other is fun. You’re very strong and able to remove link-a-doos from toys they are attached to. You also enjoy playing with the baby, in the full-length mirror.
We read you books throughout the day. You know exactly how to turn pages and like to turn them before we finish reading the page. You especially like your plastic books that are okay to chew.
Teething
Inside your beautiful mouth are painful, moving, throbbing teeth. This past month, you had two teeth surface (bottom front). And it looks like there are two more teeth on the top gum that are ready to burst through any moment but haven't started to cut yet. You’ve had a really hard time, we’re giving you baby Tylenol every four hours to help soothe the pain.

Meals
You enjoy three meals a day plus 6 bottle feedings.
A sample of what you’re eating during the day:

Breakfast - bowl of oatmeal mixed with fruit, like apples or peaches followed by a 6 ounce bottle.
Lunch - A jar of vegetables (stage 2), plus something else like cottage cheese or a slice of cheese, followed by a 6 ounce bottle.
Snack - Graham cracker, veggie puffs, fruit or vegetable.
Dinner - Jar of veggies and a fruit jar followed by a 6 ounce bottle.
Though we’ve added stage 3 meals to your day, you’re still not able to finish the whole jar in one sitting. A stage 3 jar usually lasts for 2-3 meals. You’ve been working on your pincher grasp. Most of the time you’re able to pick up your food; however it usually falls before making it into your mouth. Prince (our dog) really loves meal time with you.
Some (non-baby food jars) food you’re eating:
Cottage cheese, sliced cheese, avocado, cucumber, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, bananas, peaches, apples, oatmeal, plain yogurt, scrambled eggs, tortillas and toast.
Also, we made the transition from sensitive formula to regular formula to help prepare you for milk when you’re 12 months old.
Physical
According to our home scale, you weigh 19.5 pounds.
You wear 9-12 month and still wearing a size 3 diaper.
Your eyes are still blue and beautiful.

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy!
